WagonR Stingray: The tremendous potential of Indian car market along with its
continuously increasing growth rate makes it a viable operation centre for any
car maker. Owing to the large base of potential car consumers, every major auto
maker have set its eyes on the Indian market in order to achieve better growth
prospects. It is not an unknown fact the Indian car market is dominated by
Maruti Suzuki India Limited, which has stemmed its roots long ago in 1981 with
the launch of its flagship 800 model. Presently, the company sells around 14 models,
in the Indian auto market, which are categorised under different segments
namely Mini, Compact, Super Compact, Mid-Size, Executive, Utility and Vans. Stingray's arch-rival Grand i10 will
have an advantage over it due to the fact that the competing car will be
available in both diesel and petrol variants. The Grand i10 shall be equipped
with a 1.2-litre Kappa engine that gives away a peak output of 83 bhp while the
1.1-litre diesel engine can reach a maximum power of 70 bhp. As far as features
of both cars are concerned, the Grand i10 is expected to come equipped with an
automatic air conditioner, rear seats air vents, steering mounted audio
controls and auto folding mirrors, while the advancements of Stingray are yet
not announced. However, it is not an unknown fact that the car will be provided
with less features as compared to what is given in Grand i10. The main factor
that is anticipated to work in the favour of the latest offering by Maruti
Suzuki will be its attractive pricing that may gel well against the Hyundai
Grand i10. According to reports, the base variant of Grand i10 may be priced
around Rs. 5.5 lakh which is somewhere around Rs. 1 lakh more than of what is
expected to be the base price of standard model of Stingray.

While looking closely at Stingray,
the car is provided with a sleek new exterior design with sportier new bumpers
and tail lights. The car is provided with thin headlamps that have projector
beam lights. This striking new feature of Stingray will impress many critics
that would not have liked the designing aspect of the car. The car will be seen
with a new bonnet that is flat and linear giving it a much more masculine look
as compared to previous iterations of WagonR. Up front, the car is provided
with slim chrome grille, something which the auto maker should have moulded in
a better way. Bumpers of the car are now more elongated and are provided with a
bigger radiator grille apart from a chrome option. At the interiors, the
car will get a refreshed new look with black upholstery and blue trim accents.
Along with seat fabrics, floor mats are expected to be of superior quality. It
is also speculated that the new car will be equipped with an enhanced music
system that will be compatible with USB, AUX-in and Bluetooth. In addition, it
is being said that the company is offering more boot space at the rear end of
the car apart from a capacious cabin space and an increased rear passenger
room. Maruti Suzuki's Stingray will be offering competition to Hyundai's
recently unveiled car Grand i10. With both companies deciding to launch new
models based on same platform, rather than phasing them out, it seems that
companies are now targeting a whole new audience rather than edging out the market
of their existing models.
